Tweet of the Night goes to Jared Dudley, who didn’t want to get in Dwight Howard’s business, but did so anyway. Of course, Dudley has the rights to his opinion as much as Howard has the rights to his. In terms of why Howard wouldn’t play for the mentioned teams, only he has that answer, but here are some possible reasons:
The Bulls have Derrick Rose who is a product of Adidas, and Adidas wants its superstars spread out. Howard wants to be the man and needs a passer, so a pairing with Kobe would appear to be a poor fit. The Mavericks have an uncertain future at this point with a declining Dirk Nowitzki (yet he would still be the No. 1 option).
Meanwhile, the Nets have relocated to Brooklyn, where everything is brand new from a beautiful arena to marketability – they sold more product in one day than the New Jersey Nets did in one year. Oh, and they still have a guy named Deron Williams – one of the best point guards in the league – on the roster, who is still waiting for the arrival of Howard. Why not Brooklyn? Is it such a bad place to be right now?
As Chris Sheridan first reported, a Big Three of D-Will, Joe Johnson and Dwight Howard is within reach for the Nets.
Nick Collison’s Tweet of the Day
Phil says
Nets do not have a good reputation of a “winning team.” if that is the word I’m looking for which is lot of people wondering why the Nets. Yes they have Deron Williams but if they lose Deron Williams(big if.) now what or Dwight? Sure they are going move to Brooklyn which is a big market, a billionaire owner, and moving to the new stadium but if he is serious about winning Nets shouldn’t be high on his list.
The other team is more appealing not saying Brooklyn which it is but with the roster it looks they probably end up making the playoffs if they only get Dwight/Deron, or both nothing else. Now adding Joe Johnson it is going to be more difficult getting Dwight Howard they have to go with the trades, or sign & trade next summer once Dwight become officially a free agent if he gets that far without no extension.
I know why he doesn’t want Chicago and it is not the weather which I do not buy that none sense because if it was Brooklyn wouldn’t be on his list, and over there it gets cold in the fall & winter just like Chicago.
I think reason why he didn’t even consider Chicago is one of the few things
1.) Jordan Shadow(This theory is really stupid.)
2.) His big ego cloud his judgment that he wants to be da man, and he know he won’t be da man if he is commitment to play for the Bulls since Chicago have Derrick Rose.
3.) Maybe some reason he just hates the organization.
I think its both 2 and three but hey I could be wrong. As for other teams Lakers do have Kobe but he is not getting any younger though which I kinda understand see why he wouldn’t choose the Lakers but the Mavs which I believe he will strongly consider them more than Chicago. Since Mavs have Dirk, Mark Cuban is the owner, they have the cap space to sign both Dwight & Deron(Even though he could come to terms and sign with Chicago to pair up with Derrick Rose.)
Dwight Howard while its his decision but I do question his judgment but it is up to him. However, he really needs to start have a open mind and reconsider some of the teams like Chicago, LA, and heck I would say some other teams like Atlanta.
Now if he really serious want to win a championship Chicago, Dallas, Oklahoma, Knicks(a big maybe.) & maybe Atlanta(If they ca get another superstar like CP3 or Deron to pair up with.) Miami is not going anywhere anytime soon, and I can go as far saying the same thing with Oklahoma. So if he wants to win a championship better consider those teams his top three choices would be Chicago, Dallas, & Oklahoma.
If he wants to be one of those great players that never win a ring, then that is all up then, and its his loss.
