Tweet of the Day goes to Dwyane Wade for congratulating his former college teammate in Steve Novak for agreeing to terms with the New York Knicks on a nice big contract. Novak was a rookie in the lone season he played together with Wade in Marquette, but showed his long range ability from the get-go, shooting 50.5 percent from the 3-point line.
Novak was drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2006, but quickly became a journeyman, who failed to carve out a significant role with any of the previous four teams he was a part of before joining the Knicks, bouncing back and forth between teams and the NBA Development League.
Novak got off to a slow start with the Knicks last season until a desperate Mike D’Antoni gave him more playing time. Playing alongside Jeremy Lin with better utilization, Novak became the best 3-point shooter (percentage wise) in the league. He became a fan favorite and earned himself the nickname “Novakaine”, averaging 8.8 points on 47.8 percent shooting.
