Tweet of the Night could have gone to a number of people, but on this night, it belonged to Jeremy Lin – the man that flipped the city of New York and the basketball world upside down during the height of Linsanity.
There have clearly been different opinions in regards to the value of Lin – both on and off the court – from writers, players and fans alike. It has created plenty of discussion and likely some arguments along the way, but all of it can be put to rest after learning on Tuesday that the New York Knicks have officially decided not to match the offer sheet the Houston Rockets provided, which contained a poison pill the Knicks evidently could not swallow.
It was a shocking decision for many, and we’ll never know how Lin really felt about the whole process (unless he opens up about it 10 years later with Graham Bensinger), but at the end of the day, he will move on to a different team and a different situation. It may be a sad day for many hopeful Knicks fans, but judging by his latest tweet, it’s safe to say that Lin is looking forward to the new opportunity. “Linsanity” may be over in New York, but perhaps it needed a new home in Houston to be able to continue (watch out, Chris Paul).
