Tweet of the Day goes to Derrick Rose, who recently opened up a twitter account and looks to be active in sharing his thoughts with the world. On Thursday, he had some words of inspiration to share with his followers.
Rose recently opened up about the devastating knee injury he suffered in the first round of the playoffs against the 76ers last season. Here is a direct quote on just how heartbreaking the news of the injury was for him: ”Dr. [Brian] Cole, the Bulls doctor [who also performed the subsequent surgery], came up to me and told me it was torn. I couldn’t believe it. That’s the closest thing to death, the closest to death I’ve got to right there, where it just seemed like the wind and everything was taken out [of me].”
It’s difficult to imagine how it must feel for a player of his caliber – a superstar MVP level point guard – to suffer a potentially career-altering injury at such a young age. A huge part of his game relied heavily on sheer athletic ability, and one has to wonder if he can fully recover to regain his true form. Still for Rose, he has no choice but to do all he can to bounce back from the setback, and his mind appears to be in the right place to do just that.
