Dwight Howard was very emotional about his apparent first-ever meeting with the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. One would assume the two would have met somewhere before during Howard’s eight-year tenure in the league, but the “this is like a dream come true” comment would indicate otherwise.
The question is, what was the dialogue to bring the dominant big man to tears? Did Abdul-Jabbar tell Howard that he is the true Superman? Was it just sheer joy of the fact that the two are supposed to work with each other moving forward? One thing is for certain: he is a lot more excited about his opportunity to work with Abdul-Jabbar than former Lakers center Andrew Bynum was.
You can never really tell when it comes to Howard, but for the time being, his mind appears to be set to stay a Laker beyond this season. He bought a very expensive mansion in Los Angeles last month, and had this to say about his relationship with Abdul-Jabbar:
