New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert gave all of his fans something to wonder about with the particular tweet above.
It’s obviously good news, but to what extent? Shumpert has been recovering from a torn left ACL and lateral meniscus he suffered during the first round of the playoffs last season against the Miami Heat. He was injured at the end of April and the recovery time was supposed to be six to eight months. Though unlikely, it is not entirely out of the question for him to be ready to play (or close to it) by the time the season starts at the end of October – exactly six months since the knee injury. Based on Shumpert’s enthusiasm after his meeting with the doctors and training staff of the team, there appears to be reason to be optimistic.
Once he does come back, it will be interesting to see what type of adjustments he will have to make to compensate for the inevitable drop in athleticism – at least through this season.
