Elimination Roto Draft Results, Part II
In Part I, we looked at the first eight rounds of this 20-team draft. That should cover all the NBA players you need to know if you play in standard-sized or shallower leagues.
These are selections # 161-320, of more interest if you play in a 16- or 20-team league. The unusual settings for this league encourage speculation and my picks reflect that. My two worst picks will be dropped for better players on Dec. 1, and our unique rules let me replace two more on Jan. 1, so risk-taking makes sense.
The main reason we hold the Roto Elim draft so early is to learn; everyone’s “serious” keeper league drafts are later in the month. It also adds an element of luck to the league — it’s much harder to pick live sleepers before the first exhibition game is played.
Round 9 (Players 161-180)

Iman Shumpert (NY – PG,SG) | Pistol Pete

Royce White (Hou – SF) | Skyrim Walkers
Marcus Camby (NY – C) | ’92 Dream Team
Ed Davis (Tor – PF,C) | Last Man Standing !!
Bismack Biyombo (Cha – PF,C) | STAT
Mirza Teletovic (Bkn – SF,PF) | Alcindor Skyhooks
DeJuan Blair (SA – PF,C) | Trillionaires
Jeff Green (Bos – SF,PF) | ~*~ Wizard of Oz ~*~
Taj Gibson (Chi – PF) | Madafakas4Life
Jan Vesely (Was – PF) | R.I.P Super Sonics
Randy Foye (Uta – PG,SG) | Brick Master
Jarrett Jack (GS – PG,SG) | Ski Bum
Nick Young (Phi – SG,SF) | Roots for Goliath
James Johnson (Sac – SF,PF) | Cuban’s defectors
Vince Carter (Dal – SG) | Chief
Devin Harris (Atl – PG) | Magic 9 |
Mirza Teletovic is a very accomplished 27-year-old, not the typical rookie. I don’t think he’ll need much time to adjust to the NBA and am hopeful that he’s the Nets’ sixth man.
Round 10 (Players 181-200)
Anthony Morrow (Atl – SG,SF) | Magic 9
Aaron Brooks (Sac – PG) | Chief
Carlos Delfino (Hou – SG,SF) | Cuban’s defectors

Byron Mullens (Cha – PF,C) | Madafakas4Life
Gerald Henderson (Cha – SG,SF) | ~*~ Wizard of Oz ~*~
Jared Sullinger (Bos – PF) | Trillionaires
Alexey Shved (Min – PG,SG) | Alcindor Skyhooks
Gustavo Ayon (Orl – PF,C) | STAT
Tayshaun Prince (Det – SF,PF) | Last Man Standing !!
Jodie Meeks (LAL – SG) | ’92 Dream Team
Andre Drummond (Det – PF) | Skyrim Walkers
Marvin Williams (Uta – SF) | Aggie Swish
Rashard Lewis (Mia – SF,PF) | Shortsteppers II
Kendall Marshall (Pho – PG) | Kosrae Kiwis
Gary Neal (SA – PG,SG) | Pistol Pete
Ekpe Udoh (Mil – PF,C) | Numero Ocho |
Alexey Shved is not a “sure thing” to succeed in his rookie season, but the Russian was so impressive in the Olympics that I like his chances. This pick gave me two sleepers that I knew were high on Jeff’s list.
Round 11 (Players 201-220)
Landry Fields (Tor – SG,SF) | Numero Ocho
J.J. Barea (Min – PG) | Pistol Pete
Jerryd Bayless (Mem – PG,SG) | Kosrae Kiwis

Shane Battier (Mia – SG,SF) | ’92 Dream Team
Jonas Jerebko (Det – SF,PF) | Last Man Standing !!
Lamar Odom (LAC – SF,PF) | STAT
Rodrigue Beaubois (Dal – PG,SG) | Alcindor Skyhooks
Norris Cole (Mia – PG) | Trillionaires

Chase Budinger (Min – SF) | Ski Bum
Amir Johnson (Tor – PF,C) | Roots for Goliath
Matt Bonner (SA – PF) | Cuban’s defectors
Grant Hill (LAC – SF,PF) | Chief
Tyler Zeller (Cle – PF,C) | Magic 9 |
This was a pure upside pick. Rodrigue Beaubois has been brought along very slowly by the Mavs, but this might be the year he gets enough minutes to shine.
Round 12 (Players 221-240)
Andrew Nicholson (Orl – PF) | Magic 9
Boris Diaw (SA – PF,C) | Chief
Nate Robinson (Chi – PG,SG) | Cuban’s defectors
C.J. Miles (Cle – SG,SF) | Roots for Goliath
Kosta Koufos (Den – PF,C) | Ski Bum
Shannon Brown (Pho – SG) | Brick Master
Tyler Hansbrough (Ind – PF,C) | R.I.P Super Sonics
Carl Landry (GS – SF,PF) | Madafakas4Life
Anthony Tolliver (Atl – SF,PF) | ~*~ Wizard of Oz ~*~
Corey Brewer (Den – SG,SF) | Trillionaires
Tobias Harris (Mil – SF,PF) | Alcindor Skyhooks

Dante Cunningham (Min – PF) | Shortsteppers II
Kevin Seraphin (Was – PF,C) | Kosrae Kiwis
Jeremy Lamb (Hou – SG,SF) | Pistol Pete
Richard Hamilton (Chi – SG) | Numero Ocho |
Another of my favorite sleepers, Tobias Harris might even win a starting job in his second season and I expect him to keep improving the more he plays.
Round 13 (Players 241-260)
Robin Lopez (NO – C) | Numero Ocho
Terrence Ross (Tor – SG) | Pistol Pete
Tyrus Thomas (Cha – PF,C) | Kosrae Kiwis
Ronnie Brewer (NY – SG,SF) | Shortsteppers II
Wes Johnson (Pho – SG,SF) | Aggie Swish
Nick Collison (OKC – PF,C) | Skyrim Walkers
Stephen Jackson (SA – SG,SF) | ’92 Dream Team
Corey Maggette (Det – SF,PF) | Last Man Standing !!
Gerald Green (Ind – SG,SF) | STAT
Linas Kleiza (Tor – SF) | Alcindor Skyhooks
Greg Stiemsma (Min – C) | Trillionaires
John Jenkins (Atl – SG) | ~*~ Wizard of Oz ~*~
Jimmy Butler (Chi – SG,SF) | Madafakas4Life

Delonte West (Dal – PG,SG) | Cuban’s defectors
Thabo Sefolosha (OKC – SG,SF) | Chief
Marquis Teague (Chi – PG) | Magic 9 |
I would have taken Gerald Green had he lasted one more pick, but am content with Linas Kleiza, who might be a productive bench scorer for Toronto.
Round 14 (Players 261-280)
Chris Singleton (Was – SF) | Magic 9
Al-Farouq Aminu (NO – SF) | Chief
Brandan Wright (Dal – PF) | Cuban’s defectors
Josh Childress (Bkn – SG,SF) | Roots for Goliath
John Salmons (Sac – SG,SF) | Ski Bum
Marreese Speights (Mem – PF,C) | Brick Master
Kendrick Perkins (OKC – C) | R.I.P Super Sonics
Jimmer Fredette (Sac – PG) | Madafakas4Life
Doron Lamb (Mil – PG,SG) | ~*~ Wizard of Oz ~*~
Chuck Hayes (Sac – PF,C) | Trillionaires
Terrence Jones (Hou – SF) | Alcindor Skyhooks
Eric Bledsoe (LAC – PG,SG) | STAT
Udonis Haslem (Mia – PF) | Last Man Standing !!
Francisco Garcia (Sac – SG,SF) | ’92 Dream Team

Willie Green (LAC – SG) | Shortsteppers II
Quincy Miller (Den – SF) | Kosrae Kiwis
Charlie Villanueva (Det – PF) | Pistol Pete
Anthony Randolph (Den – PF,C) | Numero Ocho |
It’s wide-open in Houston, where four rookies have a chance to earn significant minutes. Terrence Jones actually provides “insurance” for my earlier pick of Patrick Patterson.
Round 15 (Players 281-300)
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (Mil – SF,PF) | Numero Ocho
Perry Jones III (OKC – SF,PF) | Pistol Pete

Vladimir Radmanovic (Chi – SF,PF) | ’92 Dream Team
Ian Mahinmi (Ind – C) | Last Man Standing !!
Larry Sanders (Mil – PF,C) | STAT
John Henson (Mil – PF) | Alcindor Skyhooks
Chris Wilcox (Bos – PF,C) | Trillionaires
Darko Milicic (Bos – C) | ~*~ Wizard of Oz ~*~
Martell Webster (Was – SG,SF) | Madafakas4Life

Kurt Thomas (NY – PF,C) | Cuban’s defectors
Steve Blake (LAL – PG) | Chief
Jordan Hill (LAL – PF,C) | Magic 9 |
In researching Tobias Harris and looking at Summer League video of the Bucks, I kept noticing John Henson. He’s blocked by a number of other big men in Milwaukee, but the kid can play.

None of these last-round guys is likely to play much. We hope this list helps you prepare for a deep-league draft.
For the first 160 players drafted — far more relevant in the majority of leagues — see Part I.
Bruce Wrigley says
I had to go offline in the last three rounds, by the way, so I was drafting off a very short list that ran out. It was disappointing as there were several players I’d have rather had, but it underlines the importance of preparation in drafts!
Jeff Nichols says
From Round 9 on you hit it out of the park easily compiling the best team. With the exception of Kleiza, who was good value, every pick you made has monster upside and an excellent opportunity to realize it. Really impressive stuff. My views below – I was the Kosare Kiwis:
Round 9 Finally got my PG. A safe pick and good value. Dunleavy and Harris were good safe values as well. Risking taking started in ernest here with White, Teletovic as my faves.
Round 10 After Kent stuffed me with both Teletovic and Shved (yes, he knew how much I liked them both), I went with the highest upside on the board in Kendall Marshall.
Round 11Another safe pick here for me with Bayless, who plays well in this format. Beaubois was next in my cue. I also liked the Fields pick.
Round 12 Easily my two worst rounds were 12 and 13. My sleeper cue was getting emptied and I needed some BLK and took two guys who wouldn’t be there next time. I don’t think Seraphin is good enough to play in this league. Kent again took another of my guys in Harris but did so earlier than I would have. Diaw was great value here and maybe the best pick in the whole draft. I liked Koufos, Landry and Udrih as well.
Round 13 I bought the ‘my best shape of my life’ story coming out of Charlotte and immediately regret it. West was a nice safe pick. Kanter and Teague have the upside.
Round 14 With all the sleepers going, I decided not to sit any longer on Miller. I think he will force his way into the Denver rotation by the trade deadline. Really liked Burks and Jones picks.
Round 15 Took a look at the depth chart and saw that Leonard was still undrafted. Could win starting C in camp. Hill was a nice get this cheap. I also liked the upside of Henson (though not sure how he fits in Milwaukee), Jones and Barton.
Round 16 Was targeting some deep PG options like Mills, Gaines and Lucas but after doing Bobcats preview couldn’t pass on Williams as a 3P flyer. No one else on that team can’t shoot a 3! Should be first guy off the bench for them.
Overall, I am happy. I have solid and diverse core with Paul, Bosh, George, Bargnani, Faried, Hayward, Leonard and Miller and lots of second half upside in Valanciunas, Marshall and Miller. The rest are lottery picks mainly around addressing my main two needs BLK and 3P.
Bruce Wrigley says
Kent thanks for getting this online. The draft was immensely fun and I learned a couple of things as I always do. Of course, they tend to be the same things every year (I never learn), but maybe writing about them in tomorrow’s column will help.
