New Orleans Hornets rookie center Anthony Davis took to twitter to confirm whether Sacramento Kings rookie power forward Thomas Robinson dunked on Dwight Howard during Sunday night’s preseason game between the Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The answer to Davis’ question is a definitive “Yes!”
Robinson came in from behind Dwight, catching him off-guard whilst glued to the floor, leaping up over him to slam in the put-back off the rebound.
Davis and Robinson were each other’s primary competition for the 2012 National Player of the Year award last year during the NCAA college basketball season. As if it were predestined, the two college stars played against one another in the national championship game between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Wildcats came out victorious after a fantastic defensive performance from Davis, who had six blocks and 12 defensive rebounds (16 overall). Robinson also had a great performance, supplying 18 of the Jayhawks’ 59 points while adding 17 rebounds.
It would seem that after a year of competing against one another to be recognized as the best collegiate basketball player, the two of them have a mutual respect for one another.
