Congratulations to all who had choice No. 2 in our “When Will Mike Brown Get Fired? poll. The correct answer was sometime in between last Monday and this upcoming Saturday, and slightly more than 14 percent of respondents selected that narrow window.
FYI: More than 50 percent said between Nov. 11 and Dec. 1.
Brown lost his job this morning. The first to report it was Sam Amick — the newest hire at USA Today Sports. (Never quite understood how SI.com let him go.)
Here is Amick’s breaking news story, two sentences long: “Mike Brown has been fired by the Los Angeles Lakers, according to his agent Warren Legarie. The Lakers are off to a 1-4 start and will play Golden State tonight at the Staples Center.”
Wait a minute … no sourced material?
We know you were old school, Sam, but seriously? That earns you a double shout-out.
The speculation over Brown’s fate has been rampant since they emerged from the preseason 0-8 and struggled in their first five games, obviously not well-suited personnel-wise to the Princeton offense that Brown had recently installed.
