Even after a winning night, it’s hard not to think of what might have been.
Scoring a personal-best 337 points, I finished ninth out of 1,769 entries in the DFBBC qualifier, good for a $75 consolation prize but awfully damn close to a trip to Las Vegas for the live final in March.
In the $5K NBA Shot, the same lineup finished 11th among 2,790 teams to win $55 and my ‘backup’ team got $10 for 129th place. Throw in a couple of wins in 50/50 leagues, and finishing twelfth (of 2,232) in the Dribbler for $20, and I cashed for a $163 profit on the evening.
This guarantees that Week 4 will be my first one in the black, as I’m not inclined to start playing in $25 leagues just yet. It does feel good to have my patience rewarded; the last couple of losing weeks have been humbling.
