Even though you scored 37 points Friday night, ‘Melo, your team gave up 114 to the Dallas Mavericks. That record of yours’ and your teammates’ isn’t quite as gaudy as it used to be, and around here that means there is a price to pay.
That means we have a new No. 1 for the first time in the fourth edition of the SheridanHoops MVP rankings, and as always we reward winning as much (if not more) than we reward individual statistical greatness.
‘Melo’s points per game are up from 22.6 to 25.3, his rebounds are up from 6.3 to 7.0, and his FG pct. is up from .430 to .463. But his assists have dropped from 3.6 to 2.0, and lack of ball movement has been the one common denominator in all of the Knicks’ losses. And since the Knicks lost two of their three games last week, as we said, there is a price to be paid.
So onto the ranks, and our new No. 1 …
