”ElGuapo” Beats 812 in Freeroll
As expected, the distraction of March Madness made a few hundred people overlook this week’s Freeroll. “Only” 813 teams were entered, and “ElGuapo” trounced us all with a very impressive score of 308.25, more than 12 points ahead of anyone else. Building his team around LeBron James, he got at least 26.5 fantasy points from all eight players and Maurice Harkless (48. 25 points for just $9,079) was his MVP. The $100 first prize is well-deserved. Picking up $60 was second-place “rlove,” while “Burk89” earned $30 for finishing third. Congratulations to all the prize winners and thanks to everyone who played.
My team finished a respectable 92nd but I made two mistakes. One was picking Jonas Valanciunas over Robin Lopez and the other was thinking Cleveland would actually show up for its game in Houston. It was close but no cigar in my cash leagues, too. The $100 weekly bankroll is down to $97 with two days to go, and I will be going “all-in” this weekend. Tonight’s 7-game NBA slate is full of interesting possibilities and there are more games I like among the eight on Sunday.
DraftStreet also has numerous NCAA contests throughout the day; the first wave closes at 12:15 EDT if you are interested in the VCU-Michigan matchup, then there will be evening leagues. As a proud Canadian who is eagerly anticipating the 2016 Olympics and pretty confident about 2020, I might put a couple of bucks on Gonzaga stars Kelly Olynyk and Kevin Pangos tonight.

F1 Blake Griffin (LAC-F) $16,175
F2 Kenyon Martin (NY-F) $7,762
G1 Chris Paul (LAC-G) $19,292
G2 Corey Brewer (DEN-G) $11,839
C1 DeMarcus Cousins (SAC-C) $16,563
C2 Greg Monroe (DET-C) $14,670
U1 Alan Anderson (TOR-G) $5,273
U2 Ben Gordon (CHA-G) $7,435
Obviously, I like the Clippers’ dynamic duo and am spending a bit more than usual on centers, because there are “live” bargains at G and F. If Kenyon Martin and Alan Anderson play nearly as well as they did last night, those are fantastic prices, and Ben Gordon is a hunch play against his former team.
