In New York City, rumors often swirl and everything is scrutinized.
Such is the case with Knicks guard JR Smith’s recent streak of porous play. Everyone is looking for the juicy story that explains his shooting woes.
It seems that a story has surfaced that has staying power. Many media pundits and analysts are buying into the idea that Smith, as apparently stated by pop singer Rihanna (in language that is unsuitable for children), parties too hard.
Rihanna’s response (now deleted) to Peruvian_Gawd on Instagram.
Rihanna’s comment on Instagram was apparently made to a Knicks fan, Peruvian_Gawd, who was referencing a picture of Smith partying in a club with her after Game 2 in New York’s series against the Indiana Pacers [seen below].
The idea that the Sixth Man of the Year is partying too hard before playoff games doesn’t vibe well with something that he said himself nearly two weeks ago.
Whether he has (or has not) partied too hard, one can only hope that that is all in the past.
Recent trends seem to indicate that he is all-in for Thursday night’s Game 5 in Madison Square Garden.
Hopefully, his shooting woes are behind him. It would most certainly make the Knicks-Pacers game more competitive and much easier to watch.
