With the first day of July bringing forth the beginning of free agency, Twitter has be abuzz with nonstop updates.
It has been overwhelming trying to keep up with everything.
Just when it feels impossible to narrow down the best (or worst) tweet of the day, a common thread appears.
Houston based rapper Slim Thug has been going hard at free agent center Dwight Howard all day.
His intentions are well placed, as he genuinely hopes to help in recruiting the All-Star to the Houston Rockets. However, his recruiting pitches seem to vary between being comical (at best) and terrible at worst.

He does a good job of promoting the cost effectiveness of living in Houston (cheaper housing), but follows it up by essentially promoting himself as a local pimp. He goes on to further promote provocative entertainment.

Slim Thug goes on to inform Dwight about the child support policy in the state of Texas, because saving money spent on your children is evidently a big draw to living in the Lone Star State.

Fortunately, not all Houston rappers are made the same. Bun B of UGK fame sent a very wise message to Dwight regarding Slim Thug’s tweet.

He goes on to take a shot at the city of Dallas, since the Mavericks are also in the running for the All-Star center. However, he succeeds in insulting Dwight while doing so.

The Houston rapper has good intentions. Trying to recruit one of the best centers in this generation to your home town is not a bad thing. But, as Dallas Mavericks writer Earl K. Sneed suggests, Slim Thug isn’t really helping the Rocket’s cause.

It will be really interesting to see where Dwight Howard eventually signs and what, if any, impact Slim Thug’s attempts at recruiting him may have had.
