After much speculation over the past week or so, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall officially became the $80 Million Dollar Man on Wednesday.
After going through a roller coaster third year, the debate on Wall and what kind of a contract he deserved was a hot topic for much of the past season. He sat out the first 33 games after suffering a leg injury in the offseason, then started off slowly in the first couple of months, averaging under 14 points on 40 percent shooting. In the final two months, however, something clicked and Wall proceeded to play some of the best basketball of his career, which heavily helped support the case that he has the potential to be a max-level player. In one particular game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Wall exploded for a career high 47 points on 13-of-22 shooting, seven rebounds and eight assists.
A case can be made for why he does or does not deserve the contract, but this is his big day, so we will instead look at his interaction with some of his NBA friends about the signing:
