Damian Lillard quickly became a standout player in the NBA after his breakout rookie season in Portland last year, but the Blazers’ second-year guard is offering some advice to young players that may be the ‘shot happy’ type.

The reigning Rookie of the Year can back up his tweet with his impressive accolades from last season. Lillard recorded 23 points and 11 assists, joining Isiah Thomas and Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history with at least 20 points and 10 assists in their debuts.
He also holds the record for three-point field goals made by a rookie with 185.
Lillard was drafted sixth overall in 2012 by Portland after four years at Weber State where he averaged 18.6 PPG during his collegiate career.
Although he just turned 23, he’s already jumped into a leadership role with the Blazer’s as their starting point guard. In the 2012-2013 campaign, he averaged 19.0 PPG, 6.5 APG and 3.1 RPG.
Lillard proved many things this season, including his basketball wisdom. If one of the NBAs brightest young stars is offering advice, run with it. Chances are, that same motto made Lillard the player he is today.
