On the court, Dwyane Wade is an NBA superstar, a Miami Heat legend and three-time NBA champion.
But off the court he has had one of the more publicly disclosed relationships in recent NBA memory.
He and ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, went through a long, nasty and public legal divorce, which wrapped up in the end of July. It concluded with Wade agreeing to pay Funches $5 million among other details including a a “non-disparage” agreement in which each must refrain from making disparaging remarks about the other.
Wade was granted sole custody of his two children in 2011. And we all remember the attempted child abduction by Funches in 2011, before Game 4 of the NBA Finals when Wade was gearing up to play the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Wade has closed the door on that part of his life, though, and today, may have started a new one. While nothing has been confirmed, Wade tweeted on Sunday evening that:
Wedding number 2 in the books… Love is in the air… #bowtielife #TieBarAlert http://t.co/TcOKFNwUeB
— THREE (@DwyaneWade) August 26, 2013
Rumor broke in June after the completion of the NBA Finals that Wade had proposed to girlfriend and actress, Gabrielle Union, after the Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7.
While nothing has been confirmed, Wade is known to move fast on the court, so why not off it as well? Maybe he wanted to get everything wrapped up before the start of the 2013-’14 season, a season in which Miami will attempt to be the first team to complete a three-peat since the Los Angeles Lakers from 2001-2003.
