The NBA’s most prominent and widely known mascot—or, the fan who would be a mascot, the Los Angeles Clippers’ famous Clipper Darrell—had an announcement for fans on Twitter.
Portland Trail Blazers guard Mo Williams appeared to be in the know, although a bit unaware of whether Darrell had already made the announcement or not.
So happy for my good friend @clipperdarrell on his exciting news. I will let him tell the world if he haven’t already.

Indeed, the news had already broken earlier in the day.

The news seemed confusing to some, as one fan asked if he lost a bet while a couple others welcomed him to the Los Angeles Lakers’ family.
“@clipperdarrell: I am sorry to inform u that @kobebryant has recruited me pic.twitter.com/h94kPdBLlm”or did you lose a bet?

Rest at ease Clipper Nation, your unofficial mascot has not left the build simply to reenter as a Lakers fanatic.
