The Houston Rockets have themselves a winner with general manager Daryl Morey. He’s been at the forefront for Houston in landing Dwight Howard in free agency and pulled off a trade to score James Harden.
Morey now has a team that is in championship talks for the first time since he became GM in 2007. It’s quite obvious he’s loving the extra attention and is excited to get his two stars on the court together.

In a relentless effort to land Howard in free agency, Morey cleared an absurd amount of cap space last year hoping to land the big man. His efforts that year fell short as Howard signed with the Lakers but the available money made a trade for Harden possible.
This offseason the Rockets were poised for big things after Harden erupted into an NBA star. The attraction of playing with another elite player and the opportunity for a title was enough to land Howard in Houston.
The GM has also been very busy with upgrading the team’s facilities, including a $7 million boost to the locker room.
The state of the art facility includes 360° TV’s, games area, training facility and a basketball small court.

There’s no doubt about it, the Rockets are poised to make serious noise in the league this year. They have tools to get the job done, now it’s up to the leadership of Harden, Howard, coach Kevin McHale and of course Morey to improve and make any necessary adjustments.
