The Miami Heat got a little deeper over the weekend, adding NBA veteran Roger Mason Jr.
Not exactly a blockbuster signing, but Mason can provide the Heat with additional three-point shooting after losing Mike Miller in free agency.
It’s not everyday a player gets the chance to suit up with the champions, but Mason seems to realize that.

The tweet included this photo which shows him wearing a Heat practice shirt.
Mason, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Virginia has spent the last decade playing professionally.
Since joining the league in 2002, he’s bounced around, playing with the Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Hornets, Olympiacos (Greece) and Hapoel Jerusalem (Israel).
The move became official Friday afternoon when the Heat made an announcement via Twitter.

Mason had a breakout season with the Spurs in 2008-09 where he started 71 games, averaged over 11 points per game and shot 42 percent from three-point range.
The last four seasons his points have dipped below five per game but his shooting percentage has been steady, about 39 percent from the field.
There’s potential for Mason to have another breakout season—if his shots are falling—LeBron James and Dwyane Wade should be able to provide him a lion’s share of open attempts.
