On June 16, 1858, newly elected senator Abraham Lincoln addressed 1,000 people at the Republican State Convention in Springfield, Illinois. His words were succinct and to the point, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
A simple moral truth found in the bible: “Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.” [Matthew 12:25]
That is, unless you’re in the Paul family.

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul and his wife Jada are rivals of the high school football variety.
Their high school alma maters duked it out Friday night in a low scoring football game. Chris’ school, West Forsyth, defeated his wife Jada’s school, Mount Tabor, 15-6.
Chris and Jada met and began dating while attending Wake Forest together in 2003. The two have now been married for two years and have two sons together.
If their relationship can outlast the trials of a sports rivalry, there’s no reason to think that the rest of us can’t.
