Blazers injury list on the rise

Portland Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum suffered a concussion during practice on Tuesday morning, reports Chris Haynes of Comcast Sportsnet. Batum went up for a dunk attempt and Will Barton tried to contest it, crashing into Batum, sending him into the stanchion behind the basket. Trail Blazers coach Terry Stott described it as a “hard fall.” The Blazers have had bad luck over the past week of training camp; LaMarcus Aldridge, Mo Williams, Earl Watson, Dorell Wright, Will Barton, CJ McCollum have also suffered injuries while practicing. Batum will have to adhere to the NBA’s concussion protocol before returning to action. He will not be available to play in Wednesday’s contest against the Phoenix Suns at the Moda Center.
Gustavo Ayon to miss 4-8 with injury

Atlanta Hawks’ power forward Gustavo Ayon will miss 4-8 weeks after an MRI revealed inflammation and a rotator cuff strain, the Hawks announced Tuesday. Ayon has been in the league for three years, playing on the New Orleans Hornets, Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks last year. He’s averaged 4.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in his career.
