Marko Jaric’s run at a return to the NBA has come to an end.
Shortly after the Brooklyn Nets’ preseason victory over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, general manager Billy King announced that the team would waive the 35-year-old guard. While the stay was brief, Jaric still appreciated the opportunity and handled the news with class:
@markojaric: Thanks to the Brooklyn Nets organization for everything but I am just to much out of shape. Good luck!!!

Jaric last played in the NBA in the 2008-2009 season for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was also signed by the Chicago Bulls last season before being waived. His desire to make it onto the Nets roster seems a bit odd in retrospect, given his tweet about how out of shape he is. Clearly, preparing for a full NBA season was not in the plans for him in the offseason.
His departure still leaves the Nets with 18 players on the roster, so more waiving of players is in order. Too bad for Nets fans, no Jaric means no Adriana Lima in attendance for games:

Every time I look at one of her photos, her jugs mysteriously get larger each time. Instead of surgery after surgery after surgery, she should just use one of those bicycle pumps, far less anesthesia is necessary.

That move wasn’t good for business. Bad move, Prokhorov. Adriana in attendance would have boost sales. lol.

And Jim Park and Sheridan Hoops understand Ratings too (lol).
Nice excuse for one last photo.
Nets already had 15 players with fully guaranteed contracts for next year and with the added enhanced luxury tax implications there was never a real chance that any current players would be cut (very slight chance of a trade).
However there are 4 positive stories about Nets that deserve more attention:
1. 23 year old Chris Johnson (Rio Grande Vipors of DLeague) looks like NBA material, with Nets short at SF position right now.
2. Shaun Livingston, a high IQ pass first PG, looks like starting material for Nets, but Nets won’t be able to offer him more than a small increase in his Vet Min salary after this season.
3. Last night Andray Blatche got to start at his natural position of PF, for the first time as a Net. He looked just fine next to Brook Lopez and scored 11 pts in the 1st quarter. JKidd has already proven to be better than PJ Carlisimo for that “daring” move. He also tested Mirza Teletovic at SF, and the roof didn’t cave in.
4. Nets may be the tallest team in the NBA, after you correct for some “errors” in the so called official stats. (Draft Express Combine values, in shoes, are most accurate, and players like Brook Lopez do grow after age 19. I get 6′ 8.2″ (in shoes) as the average height of whole roster as well as top 9 roster players.
