In today’s news, Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo said he’s not going to rush playing again. Meanwhile, Derrick Rose gives injury advice to Russell Westbrook. And, the San Antonio Spurs unveiled a new military-inspired uniform.
Rondo wants to be fully healthy before returning to the court 
The Celtics’ floor general has been away from NBA basketball almost nine months but after all the time off he’s not rushing his recovery, reports Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe.
He said he’ll be returning this season, but has no idea when.
“Whenever I’m able to jump off my right leg and probably dunk, that’s when I think I’ll be back to play. Once I get back out there, I want to go full speed. I don’t want any limitation. That’s when I’ll return, when I’m able to do that. I’ll know when it’s right. Everybody is different, each injury is different… For me, when I come back, I won’t come back unless I know I’m myself again.”
Rondo said his right leg is at about 87 percent, “give or take, depending on how my day goes.” He tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in January and had surgery the following month.

Derrick Rose gives advice to Russell Westbrook
They might be enemies on the basketball court, but off the court Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook can relate to each other. Rose was sidelined for the Chicago Bulls nearly a year and a half and he has some advice for the Oklahoma City Thunder star point guard: take your time.
Westbrook tore the meniscus in his right knee in the Thunder’s first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets last season. Two weeks ago he underwent arthroscopic surgery on the same knee and is expected to be out at least four to six weeks of the regular season.
Rose advises Westbrook to be patient in the recovery. “Take his time. He’s the only one that knows his body. There’s no need to force anything. And attack every day of rehab like it’s your last day. Get everything you [can] get out of it every day.”
The advice couldn’t come from a better person as Rose nursed himself back to full health after an ACL injury. Despite constant criticism, the Bulls guard was determined to be healthy before returning.
So far, the rehab seems to be moving quickly. On Monday, Westbrook participated in parts of the Thunder’s practice.
Spurs unveil new military-inspired uniform 
The San Antonio Spurs unveiled a new military-inspired uniform in honor of the servicemen and women of the Armed Forces, the team announced Thursday.
They will debut the new uniforms when the Washington Wizards are in town on Wednesday, Nov. 13. The military uniforms are part of the adidas and NBA Pride Uniform Collection, inspired by each team’s core identity, history and/or region.
The Spurs created the camouflage-patterned uniforms to showcase San Anotnio, which is commonly referred to as “Military City U.S.A.” The city is home to Joint Base San Antonio, a military installation that includes the Army’s Fort Sam Houston, Randolph Air Force Base and Lackland Air Force Base. It is estimated that more than 300,000 active and retired military and government workers call San Antonio home.
“Playing in San Antonio, we’re constantly reminded of the selflessness and courage of those that serve,” said Spurs guard Danny Green. “We owe them a debt of gratitude and it is an honor to recognize and show support to all active and retired military members.”
They will wear the military uniforms twice during the 2013-14 season.
