Raptors looking to make moves

The Toronto Raptors are in the middle of a rebuilding process, it takes time, but so far they’re on the right track. Marc Stein of ESPN reports the Raptors may be looking to make moves, saying virtually anyone is available except young center Jonas Valanciunas. With new GM Masai Ujiri running the show, the team could take an aggressive turn to land picks in this year’s highly touted draft. DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay and Terrence Ross are all pieces that would draw interest from other teams. DeRozan will make $9.5 million per season through 2016-2017, a number that’s well worth the 18 points he produced a game last season. Gay is an interesting trading piece, he has a player option at over $19 million next season that many teams wouldn’t want to take on. But, he’s proven to be a legitimate leader and was a top scorer on very good Memphis Grizzlies team. Ross is still young and inconsistent, however, if the high-flying 22-year-old can produce like many believe he can, it’s well worth other GM’s to take a look.
Trivia Answer: Rick Carlisle coached the Mavs to their first NBA Championship in 2011.
