Russell Westbrook will play tonight vs. Suns

The Oklahoma City Thunder have announced point guard Russell Westbrook will be making his season debut tonight against the Phoenix Suns. This announcement puts his original return date nearly a month ahead of schedule. This news also comes just days after it was reported that Westbrook could make his debut in two weeks. Westbrook has been out of action since suffering a torn meniscus during the playoffs last season. After undergoing knee surgery in early October, Westbrook wasn’t expected to play anytime before December.
Hall Of Fame center Walt Bellamy dies

The Atlanta Hawks have confirmed Hall of Fame center Walt Bellamy has died at the age of 74. In a statement released by the NBA yesterday afternoon, David Stern had this to say: “Walt Bellamy was an enormously gifted Hall of Fame player who had a tremendous impact on our game.” The commissioner’s statement also included condolences: “Off the court, he was an even more extraordinary person. Walt is going to be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. On behalf of the entire NBA family, our condolences and thoughts go out to Walt’s family.” Bellamy was the first overall pick of the 1961 NBA draft, and also rookie of the year in addition to being a four-time All-Star with career averages of 20.1 points and 13.7 rebounds.
