On Wednesday, November 6, 2013, 20 NBA franchises took center stage in 10 games. Some teams looked to maintain their hot starts, while others were searching for a victory to help right the ship after a slow start.
Here’s everything you need to know about what happened last night in the NBA.
1. Three-point marksman and offensive superstar Stephen Curry suffered a leg injury during the Golden State Warriors’ 106-93 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Per Rusty Simmons of The San Francisco Chronicle, Curry is day-to-day with an ankle injury.
Why should Warriors fans be concerned? Curry missed 40 games in 2011-12 due to an ankle injury.
2. In their fifth career appearances … No. 1 overall draft choice Anthony Bennett made his first career field goal during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 109-104 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks after missing his first 15 attempts. Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens won his first career game with a 97-87 victory over the Utah Jazz.
4. Chris Paul led the Los Angeles Clippers with 18 points and 10 assists during a 98-90 loss to the Orlando Magic. He now has a double-double in each of his first five games, which he hadn’t done since 2008-09.
5. Nikola Vucevic led the Magic with 30 points and 21 rebounds in 38 minutes. It’s the second time in his career that he’s posted numbers of at least 30 points and 20 boards.
6. The Indiana Pacers are 5-0 for the first time since 1971-72. Roy Hibbert has 26 blocks through five games and Paul George is averaging 25.8 points.
7. During the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 107-93 win over the Dallas Mavericks, Russell Westbrook had 22 points, Kevin Durant added 23 and 10 assists, and Serge Ibaka tallied 17 and 13 rebounds. It was Durant’s first 10-assist game since February 27, 2013.
Durant had three collective assists in his previous three outings.
8. Anthony Davis isn’t slowing down. He posted 18 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and three steals during the New Orleans Pelicans’ 99-84 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Davis is averaging 21.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.2 steals after five games.
9. Grizzlies center and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Marc Gasol grabbed one total rebound in 31 minutes of game action. It was his lowest rebound total with at least 25 minutes of game action since February 5, 2011.
10. In a battle between rising stars at point guard, John Wall led the Washington Wizards to a 116-102 win over Michael Carter-Williams and the Philadelphia 76ers. Wall had 24 points and nine assists, and MCW finished with 19 points and seven dimes.
Bonus Fact #1: Evan Turner posted 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal on 9-of-13 shooting for the 76ers. Turner has at least 18 points in all five of the Sixers’ games in 2013-14—the longest streak of his career.
Bonus Fact #2: The Charlotte Bobcats defeated the Toronto Raptors 92-90. Dating back to last season, the Bobcats have now won six of their past eight games.
