Bad news has been mounting over the past few days in the NBA with significant injuries to various important players around the league – some more serious than others.
Of course, nothing was more devastating than when Derrick Rose tore the meniscus in his right knee over the weekend. He had successful surgery, but will miss the remainder of the season.
Unfortunately, the bad news appears to be rolling right along. Bill Simmons of Grantland reported on Monday night that Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal suffered an injury and could miss an extended period of time:
More bummer injury news: hearing Bradley Beal reaggravated last spring’s leg injury, and that the Wiz are worried he’ll miss extended time.
— Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) November 26, 2013
Of course, this news isn’t anywhere near as bad as Rose’s, but a surprising one nonetheless. Beal originally suffered the stress injury in his right fibula back in April and missed the final eight games of his rookie season. It’s unclear how much time he may miss, and the fact that the problem has resurfaced nearly eight months after the initial injury is concerning.
Beal has had a breakout season thus far, averaging 20.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists to form a dynamic backcourt with John Wall.
