Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond continues to show everyone why he’s one of the classiest young players in the NBA.
Drummond wrote the name of each victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on his shoes for tonight’s game. He will also donate his game jersey to the school.
The shooting occurred one year ago yesterday in the community of Newtown, Connecticut. One man entered the school and open fired on faculty and children. In total, 28 were killed, including the gunman. The tragedy captivated America and the world, which forced top US officials to demand tougher gun laws.
The tragedy hits close to home from Drummond, he attended high school in Connecticut and spent one year at UConn, which is only an hour away from where the incident occurred.
Drummond was keen on spreading awareness about it today.

The Pistons ended up losing today in overtime against the Portland Trailblazers. Drummond had 13 points and 14 rebounds in 44 minutes of action.
Regardless of the game’s outcome, Drummond did the right thing. It’s acts like these that overpower evil.
From all of us here at Sheridan Hoops, we want everyone affected by the tragedy to know that we’re still thinking and praying for you all.
