On the second day of the new year, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kendall Marshall honored one of the secondary characters from one of the 1990s greatest comedy films, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
It is an obscure reference for those who are unfamiliar with the early works of comedian Jim Carrey. Among his fans, however, Ventura is one of his best characters.
Finkle is Einhorn. #neverforget

Spoiler: In the scene above, Ventura resolves the mystery of who kidnapped Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino and the team’s mascot, Snowflake. The culprit: Police Lieutenant Lois Einhorn, who is secretly former Dolphins kicker Ray Finkle. Ventura, upon realizing the connection, is repulsed because he was once kissed by former kicker turned police lieutenant.
Memorable for its brand of zany physical comedy and sophomoric sense of humor, the success of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective led Carrey to become the first actor to earn a $20 million salary for his second leading role in The Mask.
If you haven’t seen this classic comedy, rent it or buy it. It is well worth watching.
