Prior to the start of this season, there were some who believed the Milwaukee Bucks had enough talent on the roster to be a playoff team in the Eastern Conference.
44 games later, they sit with an 8-36 record – the worst in the NBA – and is the only team that has yet to reach double-digit victories. Most of their offseason moves have failed to make a difference, and there appears to be much general discontent in the locker room about the situation. Here are some of the issues they have dealt with, among other things:
- The big signing of Larry Sanders looks highly questionable at this point.
- O.J. Mayo has been seemingly out of shape and unhappy all season long.
- Gary Neal has been on a similar boat as Mayo.
- No one still has any idea as to what exactly Brandon Knight is, although he seems to be best-equipped to play shooting guard.
- Caron Butler has been a nice player at times, but has been in and out of the lineup due to constant shifting of the lineup and injuries all season long.
- Zaza Pachulia has been out since December due to a broken foot.
- Larry Drew appears to have no idea as to who he wants to play on a nightly basis.
There is a bright future ahead for the franchise with strong development in their young players Giannis “The Greek Freak” Antetokounmpo, John Henson and Khris Middleton. They also have a huge upcoming draft to look forward to. Needless to say, though, this year has been and will remain a state of complete disarray.
Milwaukee’s dreadful season continued on Monday, losing 114-86 against the Los Angeles Clippers on their own floor. Presumably after watching them play, Tracy McGrady came down hard on the seemingly-pointless Bucks team:
I seriously think Mt Zion Christian can beat the Milwaukee Bucks right now. #immediatechange
— Tracy McGrady (@Real_T_Mac) January 28, 2014
This is not the first time McGrady has spoken harshly about a struggling team since retiring, and it probably won’t be the last.
