The annual Rising Stars Challenge on Friday between chosen rookies and sophomores was pretty much what most expected it to be: An offensive showcase with not a whole lot of defense being played (although the Plumlee brothers may disagree).
Playing in front of his home crowd in New Orleans, Anthony Davis was expected to make some serious noise in this game. However, it was the unlikely shootout that broke out between Dion Waiters and Tim Hardaway Jr. in the second half that captured everyone’s attention:
In the end, though, it was Andre Drummond who took the MVP honors after dropping 30 points and 25 rebounds in the contest. As he came up to accept his prize, however, the presenter of the award inexplicably dropped and shattered the trophy as many looked on in disbelief:
The whole scene was quite bizarre and hilarious at the same time, with Hardaway Jr. doing his best to make light of the situation. Having witnessed what went down, Andre Iguodala had this to say:
He could never go to jail! #dontdropthesoap

Not the most appropriate joke, but a zing nonetheless.
