It’s a two-man race. We all can agree on that, right?
But who is the more worthy candidate: LeBron James? Or Kevin Durant?
This week, we let y’all have your say as we post a poll within this post. You can even vote for somebody else if you so choose, but the majority of folks will vote for the player who leads the league in scoring or the player who went off for 61 points on Monday night.
Once you cast your ballot, the results will appear. And the Cook County rules are in effect, so you can cast a vote from the graveyard if you like. This is a basketball poll, after all, so stuffing is encouraged. (Get it?)
My opinion on the matter is this: I have had Durant leading the field since early January, and the way he carried the team in Russell Westbrook’s absence solidified his hold on the No. 1 spot. But I also tend to bend based upon recent events, and the Thunder losing three straight at home has got to have an impact on this week’s rankings, right?
Well, the answer to that question lies below.
But I’ll also say this: The factor that may decide this thing for many, many voters is which team ends up with the better record. Miami’s loss to Houston on Tuesday night evened the teams in the loss column with 15 apiece. OKC is still holding down the No. 1 seed in the West, while Miami is sitting in the No. 2 slot in the East, just as it’s done since the start of the season.
So take my rankings below with a grain of salt. As I have said before and will say again, the only rankings that really matter are the ones I put on my official NBA ballot in the latter part of April. Until then, let’s just hope that the debate stays lively. Another 60-point outing from one of these two guys will certainly help.
So without further ado, the latest edition of the ranks:
