Thursday, March 6 played host to just three NBA games. In those outing, there was a record-setting performances, a career-high scoring outburst and a rematch of the 2013 Finals.
Here’s everything that you need to know about last night’s action.
1. The San Antonio Spurs put on a display of two-way brilliance during a 111-87 decimation of the Miami Heat. Tim Duncan led the charge with 23 points and 11 rebounds, Tony Parker scored 17 and Boris Diaw stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and a steal on 5-of-5 shooting.
The 24-point loss was Miami’s worst of the season.
2. Gerald Green scored a career-high 41 points to lead the Phoenix Suns to a no-defense 128-122 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Russell Westbrook posted 36 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and four steals, and Kevin Durant scored 34, but OKC’s defense failed to make enough stops.
Green made eight 3-pointers, marking the 10 time this season that he’s hit at least five in one game. He did it four previous times in his career.
3. The Thunder shot a perfect 19-of-19 from the free throw line. That makes OKC the third team this season to shoot 100.0 percent from the charity stripe when attempting at least 19 freebies.
The common theme in each of those games? They were all losses.
4. My oh my.
The Los Angeles Clippers put on an absolute clinic against their in-city rival Los Angeles Lakers, picking up a record-setting 142-94 win. Four separate Clippers had double-doubles and eight separate players scored in double-figures for Doc Rivers.
This was the largest win in Clippers history and the largest loss in Lakers history.
5. Blake Griffin stepped up to lead the Clippers to victory with 20 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 26 minutes. Griffin has scored at least 20 points in a franchise record 21 consecutive games.
