Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash has been working with Grantland this season for a mini-documentary series called “The Finish Line”. It’s about what he has gone through physically and emotionally in another lost season due to all the injuries that have plagued and prevented him from making a difference for the team on the court.
Episode 3 aired on Thursday, and this one had some interesting quotes from Nash. Players aren’t usually this frank when it comes to how much the money they make factors into whatever decision they make, but he flat out came out and said one of the reasons he isn’t ready to retire from basketball is because he wants the money that is contractually owed to him. Given that he’s due to make $9.7 million in the 2014-2015 season, it’s hard to blame him, and he’s absolutely correct in assuming no one else in the world (in their right mind) would ever turn that down.
Wilson Chandler of the Denver Nuggets saw the episode and had nothing but praise for the star guard, presumably for keeping it 100 percent real:
Just finished watching “The Finish Line” on Grantland w/ Steve Nash. Nothing but the upmost respect for him!
