OFFICIAL: The #Warriors have relieved Head Coach Mark Jackson of his duties: http://t.co/o8FFN3tbWv

Speculation met reality Tuesday afternoon, as the Golden State Warriors fired head coach Mark Jackson.
Jackson has led the Warriors to the playoffs in consecutive years—with a 98-66 record over that two-year span, making him the first Golden State coach since Don Nelson to accomplish the feat. However, two years of on-court success—each slowed by nagging injuries—could not prevent team owners from removing him.
In a statement released by the team, both the Warriors general manager, Bob Myers, and their owner and CEO, Joe Lacob, expressed gratitude for the job Jackson did in his first head coaching job over the past three seasons, yet each used tired cliches illustrating that their was definitely an ulterior motive (unrelated to wins and losses) for this move.
Owner Joe Lacob:
Mark Jackson has had a big impact on the improvement of our team and the success that we’ve had over the last couple of years. Nonetheless, we must make some difficult decisions in our day-to-day operations of the club and this would certainly qualify as one of those examples. We wish Mark the best of luck in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions over the last three years.”
GM Bob Myers:
It’s never easy to make a decision of this nature. Mark has accomplished many good things during his three years with the organization, including his role in helping elevate this team into a better position than it was when he arrived nearly 36 months ago. We’re appreciative of his dedication and commitment since his arrival and are extremely grateful for his contributions. However, as an organization, we simply feel it’s best to move in a different direction at this time.”
The writing was on the wall for Coach Jackson, who took the high road on Twitter, opting to send a positive message to his followers.
