Typically, there is an amazing tweet to talk about. However, this may be the exception to the rule.
The folks at Bleacher Report took it upon themselves to put together an animated NBA adaptation of the hit HBO show, Game of Thrones. The ease with which the characters of the show—which is based on George R.R. Martin’s A Sword of Ice and Fire books—can be replaced with NBA teams and athletes is uncanny.
The Miami Heat, being the two-time reigning champions are the House of Targaryen—the established royal family for whom the rest of the houses in the kingdom hope to overthrow to gain power.
Before I give too much away, watch the video and enjoy.

Establishing the star players of the varied non-contending teams as the House of Stark makes so much sense. Minnesota Timberwolves’ Kevin Love as Ned Stark, who was eliminated from the story in season one, before the battle (in this case, the NBA Playoffs) even began, is perfect. Even more sensible is that he is talking to Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry in the same way that Ned would advise his eldest son Robb.
Like Curry—who was eliminated in the first round, Robb’s story isn’t one that lasts.
Another Stark, the middle son Bran, who is crippled from the waist down, rides his caretaker Hodor’s back. In the same way, ironically, Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose—whose knees have limited his play for the past two consecutive seasons, rode the back of his teammates, like Carlos Boozer.
The Los Angeles Lakers, sadly (or, perhaps, most hilariously) are the House of Frey. Mitch Kupchak is Walder Frey, the patriarch of the house, which is greatly diminished and lacking in sons. He makes alliances with other, stronger families by trading away his daughters (Lakers players) for status in the more powerful kingdoms.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are the Night’s Watch, the first line of defense at the wall that keeps the kingdom safe from the forgotten evil to the north. Kevin Durant is Jon Snow, the bastard son of Ned Stark who joined the watch to serve the kingdom. Russell Westbrook is his friend, Samwell Tarly. The two must defend Castle Black from the power that will soon threaten all…
The San Antonio Spurs—known in Game of Thrones as the White Walkers, a long forgotten power that is marching upon the kingdom of the south to destroy them all. And, so, the old and powerful Spurs march south to war and destruction.
Championship is coming.
