With NBA action on hold until Game 2 of the Finals on Sunday evening, it leaves a gap for fans and players to enjoy other sports. This includes taking an interest in the world of horse racing, especially this year due to the achievements of California Chrome.
Having already won the Kentucky Derby and The Preakness earlier this year, California Chrome was the favored horse to win the Belmont Stakes this year. Had the horse achieved this task it would have become the first Triple Crown winner in the sport since 1978. Rasual Butler of the Indiana Pacers was among the many that was interested in watching the favorite end the 36 year drought.

Unfortunately history wasn’t made today, as the 146th running of the race was won by the horse Tonalist. California Chrome not only failed to win the race, but also lost its chance at winning a bid as a Triple Crown champion, finishing the race in a 4th place tie. Whether the jockey was ill prepared or Tonalist simply ran a better race, history would remain unchanged for at least another year.
not this time for the triple crown California chrome was a little tired or the jockey didn’t make the choices no clue wanted 2 c history — Rasual Butler (@RasualButler45) June 7, 2014
