Everyone likes a good movie, and most movies serve as great distractions from life. They invite us into a new world where we are engrossed in the lives of fictional characters that have some linear story in which they experience various plot turns and twists before finding a resolution.
It’s storytelling 101, and it captivates us all.
NBA athletes are no less human and enjoy movies all the same. After suffering severe leg cramps and incapable of helping his team as the Miami Heat lost Game 1 of the NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs, LeBron James sought out the opportunity to get away, opting to see the Disney film Maleficent on his own.
Golden State Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala sought the pleasure of a summer film during his extended offseason, opting to venture to the theater to watch Tom Cruise’s new film, Edge of Tomorrow. He gave his movie review in three tweets totaling a mere 223 characters—far shorter than most Roger Ebert reviews.
Tom cruise must’ve gotten some tips from Puff when he made Edge of Tomorrow. He stole like 10 old movies concepts. Mainly Groundhog Dog

Pretty funny how I just saw Groundhog Day for the 1st time last week

Was a good movie tho

A great analogy on his part, comparing the use of multiple film influences seen in Edge of Tomorrow to how Puff Daddy samples numerous classic oldies to produce hit R&B and rap beats. As much as the film seems to echo the eternal traces of the famous Bill Murray film Groundhog Day and its repeating day plot, to a gamer, it seems to also resemble the idea of playing a first-person-shooter or a action war game with infinite respawns.
No different than the critics—who account for 190 positive reviews out of 212 total (a 90-percent certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes), Iguodala agrees that it is, in deed, a good film.
Perhaps, should the Finals disappoint—whether you are rooting for the Heat fan or the Spurs, checking out this film might be just what you need to escape.
