I reported this morning that the Chicago Bulls have made an offer of Nikola Mirotic, TajGibson, and Doug McDermott to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Kevin Love.
Naturally, this was big news in Chicago — especially since it comes one day after both McDermott and Mirotic signed their rookie contracts. They cannot be traded for another 29 days.
I talked about the Bulls’ offer, and how it stacks up against other teams’ offers, in this interview with the Carman & Jurko Show on ESPN1000 Radio in Chicago.

If the Bulls had their heads on straight, they’d focus on making Doug McDermott and Pau comfortable. Yes I know they have other new guys, but McDermott has MVP potential NOW. Pau and Noah would complement one another in so many ways I can’t count them…and Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson make this team deep and dangerous. Oh, and BTW…Mirtovic just might be really good, not just average-euro-pansy-decent.
Is Derrick Rose healthy…who knows? The dude is an animal when on the court. A team with this depth can Popovich it and limit his minutes to keep him healthy and fresh.
I think this Bulls team has the potential to be one of the greatest teams in NBA history…Love throws all those hopes in the shitter.

*In Charles Barkley voice* It’s a turrible, turrible deal for the Bulls. Why would they give up a guy they brought from overseas who bought out his own contract for the opportunity to play for a team he wants to play for? That’s just rude. Why trade another guy who they traded away two draft picks for to move up to get him? Why get Love when that means putting Gasol on the bench and we all know that isn’t what he signed up for to play for the Bulls. Nope… don’t believe it. This is just smoke to get Cleveland to give up more. Cleveland giving up more benefits Minnesota for obvious reasons and it benefits Chicago because the Cavs are a divisional rival. Yep, this is a smoke screen.

Why didn’t he talk about Minnesota wanting teams to take back bad contracts in JJ bearea, Kevin Martin? THis seems to be a huge reason why both teams are reluctant to move forward.

Trade Wiggins-Bennett-Thompson-Waiters to Atlanta for Horford and Millsap.
ATLANTA gets young players and a very good team with lots of great parts to make more trades
Cleveland gets a center and a power forward.
Great trade for both teams.
