While in the process of trying to win a roster spot on Team USA, Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond has been soaking in the experience of practicing with some of the best players the NBA has to offer.
Drummond, who is only 20 years old, is widely recognized as a rising star in the league after a breakout sophomore campaign in which he averaged 13.5 points, 13.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.6 blocks. He is still in the process of learning everything on the fly, and his inexperience as a defensive player – particularly when it comes to defending the pick-and-roll – could play a role in whether he makes the prestigious USA basketball team.
Meanwhile, he is appreciating the opportunity to learn from the best from around the league, and posted this note about his time with the reigning MVP Kevin Durant:
Surround yourself with greatness, and it will rub off on you. Learned quite a bit from this guy… http://t.co/m1DGXKXgEe

Drummond obviously plays a different position and role, but there is always something great to learn – particularly on the offensive end – from a player of Durant’s caliber. Two years ago around this time of the year, Carmelo Anthony did his best to teach Blake Griffin the art of a step-back jumper. We don’t know what exactly Durant has been preaching to the young center, but Drummond is clearly embracing the valuable experience.
