Andrew Wiggins has yet to play in a regular season NBA matchup, and it’s becoming less likely that he will for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
On Saturday, it became apparent that Wiggins’ jersey has been discontinued by the NBA online store. While this is still far from a guarantee that Wiggins will be traded, it is worth considering.
For the past several weeks, the Cavaliers have been linked to reports that they are interested in making a deal with Minnesota to acquire Kevin Love.
A deal between Cleveland and Minnesota might very well be on the horizon, but they are unable to do anything that involves moving Wiggins for the time being.

As a result of signing Wiggins to his rookie contract, NBA rules prevent him from being traded for the first 30 days after signing him. Considering that it’s only August which is basically a low activity month for the league there isn’t a need to get a deal done.

It is also possible that the discontinuation of the jersey is simply a precaution. It’s certainly not a bad idea to plan ahead just in case Wiggins never actually gets a chance to play in his Cleveland jersey.

Whether Wiggins remains with the Cavaliers organization or joins the Timberwolves before the season begins every new development is worth keeping an eye on.

This has nothing to do with Wiggins or Love. The NBA is making league-wide changes to the uniform next season, so they obviously aren’t going to produce many jerseys for players who on new teams until the time comes. They’d do the same thing with LeBron jerseys if not for the fact they sell so well. They’re also selling some Kyrie Irving merchandise at a discount price, and he’s obviously not going anywhere.
Then why is Jabari Parker jersey available?
Probably because it hasn’t sold as many units as the Wiggins jersey. In fact, I just looked at the NBA Store and they don’t have any real Parker jerseys – only a fashion jersey.
Uhh you know there is a difference between “discontinued” and “out of stock” right?.. Stop kidding yourself if you think Wiggins and Love will play together next season…

The jerseys were sold out, not discontinued according to this. Regardless, I said nothing about Wiggins and Love playing together – rather that you’re looking way too deep into things if you think a jersey being sold out/discontinued proves that a trade is imminent.
