Golf may not be as popular as the NBA among fans, but there is no doubt it is followed closely by many of the leagues players.
After all, it is a second sport to many in the offseason. We all know the phrase “gone fishing,” means it’s time to dust off the clubs.
On Sunday, Rory McIlroy continued his stranglehold on the PGA, winning his second consecutive major, his third consecutive tournament, and second PGA Championship overall. McIlroy, who entered the day with a one-stroke lead at -13 closed the tournament with a 3-under 68, including a spectacular back-nine filled with clutch shots to hold off Phil Mickelson (-15) and Rickie Fowler (-14) in the process.
Now why is this turning into a golf recap? Because many of the leagues players were tuned in to watch McIlroy make history. With Sunday’s win, he has claimed his fourth major at the age of 25 and will be going for the career grand slam next April when he tees it up at Augusta for The Masters. Here’s what they had to say:
Rory got another major in the books. Congrats #pgachamp
