The Philadelphia 76ers will be entering the 2014-15 season without Joel Embiid, but that doesn’t mean his presence won’t be felt. The number three pick from this years draft has kept his name out there by embracing social media, having caused quite a stir on Twitter since being drafted.
For the most part all of Embiid’s tweets can be chalked up to a 20 year old having fun. Like when he boldly predicted that he would lead the MVP rankings in the next couple of years.
Social media doesn’t have to be serious all the time, but today he caught the attention of the popular gossip site TMZ.
Earlier today Embiid made mention towards all the reaction being made about the sudden leak of private celebrity pictures that have occurred in recent weeks. The leaks are reportedly the result of a cyber hacker that has targeted several high profile figures, sharing their very intimate photos to the internet community.
Why is everyone always acting crazy when pics are leaked??? I mean we’ve all seen a woman’s body
— Joel-Hans Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) September 25, 2014
While Embiid is more or less just making an observation on what has been an ongoing story in the media lately, it’s easy to see why his tweet caught the spotlight today. It’s doubtful that his intent was anything more than a blank statement, there are those that would interpret it as him downplaying a serious matter.
The situation involves groups of people who have had their privacy violated, and personal pictures released to the public without their consent.
As Embiid becomes even more of a public figure, there will undoubtedly be things that he’ll have to take a more sensitive approach to addressing.
