In February 2013, the Golden State Warriors were the first team in the NBA to wear “the first modern short sleeve NBA Uniform System” when they donned jerseys with sleeves in a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. These new fashionable jerseys were later worn by several NBA teams, most notably in matchups on Christmas.
Over the weekend, the Warriors were at it again. The normal blue and yellow color scheme just doesn’t cut it in the Bay Area anymore. Well, on Saturdays at least.
This photo was taken from the Warriors official Twitter account on Sunday, when the new uniforms were revealed at a social media event that took place at Twitter’s headquarters.
No, these are not black uniforms. They’re the all new, one-of-a-kind, “Slate Alternate Uniforms.” The Warriors do not want anyone to mistake them for just plain old black. After being the first team in the NBA to wear the sleeved jerseys, they will again be the first to introduce a sleeved jersey with such a unique color.
This will be the first time the NBA has seen a color such as slate. The Warriors chose this color because it “represents not only the technology and innovation synonymous with the Bay Area, but also the body armor for the team on the court.” For more details on the event, visit the Warriors website here.
Oh, and the Warriors again are using their featured male model , Harrison Barnes, just like last year. Either Barnes asks to be the model of choice, or the Warriors just really like the way he makes the short sleeves pop.
You can see Barnes and the Warriors for the first time in their new alternates against the Charlotte Hornets on November 15 at Oracle Arena. Golden state will continue to sport the slate jerseys on games played on Saturdays.

If you have to call a uniform a “system” to sell it to the public as something that should be worn, then it’s not a uniform, it’s just another piece of crap that’s completely amateurish and bogus. The same reason they call hair replacement a “system.”
