Kevin Garnett is entering his 20th season as an NBA player. Garnett joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Robert Parish and Kevin Willis as the only players in league history to ever play at least 20 seasons.
Just don’t expect KG to extend his time in the league once his playing career comes to a close.
Throughout the course of his illustrious career, Garnett has been known to provide unforgettable sound bytes. From mind games and insults to media dismissals and pep talks, we’ve heard it all from the 15-time All-Star.
When speaking with Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News, Garnett added to his tally:
You can rule out Kevin Garnett from joining the coaching ranks after retirement: “Absolutely not. Hell no.” — Stefan Bondy (@nydninternets) October 1, 2014
Never say never. Or do.
I certainly won’t try to tell KG what to do. On the topic of players becoming coaches, one with as much experience as Garnett is bound to come up in coaching conversations. As an MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and leader of the 2008 NBA champions, his case grows stronger.
No matter how promising a candidate he may be, Garnett’s made his intentions clear: he doesn’t want to become a head coach.
“Hell no.”

Actually, Bondy didn’t specify Head Coach, but that may have been implied.
I think KG would make a good “Big Man” coach. In fact, he’s already been coaching Brook Lopez and especially Mason Plumlee.
