Denver Nuggets guard Nate Robinson is a guy that a lot of NBA fans love to root for. He’s a mere man in a land dominated by giants on the hardwood. But that never stops him from competing and showing the fire he brings to his team every time he steps on the court.
Listed at 5’9″ (on a good day), fans and players alike believe he’s smaller than that. But he’s got heart, and a pretty badass nickname – “Krypto-Nate”. Robinson earned the title after he won the 2009 Dunk Contest by dunking over Dwight Howard – who donned a Superman cape – wearing an all green Knicks uniform. You can watch that here.
To get back to today’s photo, it’s something NBA fans and players have missed, and that’s Nate being Nate. He seems to be liked as a teammate everywhere he goes and is a fan favorite. If you don’t follow him that often, maybe this photo he posted to his Instagram today gives a little insight to why they feel this way about him.
Yes, he did it. He took a selfie while at the orthodontist getting his braces cleaned/tightened, or whatever else had to be done. Now do you get the title for the photo?
Who cares, though. This picture is amazing. Clearly the lady with her hands in his mouth didn’t care much, so why should we? Kudos to Nate and the orthodontist office who allowed this photo to happen.
For the Nuggets’ sake, hopefully they’ll have Robinson to start the 2014-15 season after losing him in January to a torn ACL. The electric sixth man, along with teammates Danilo Gallinari and J.J. Hickson, who also tore their ACL, are hoping to lead the Nuggets back to the postseason after an injury laden 2013-14 in which they won only 36 games.
