When news broke that Kevin Durant would be sidelined indefinitely due to a foot fracture, there was much concern for the NBA’s reigning MVP. With an initial timetable projecting a six to eight week recovery, there were questions whether Durant would undergo surgery.
With a decision made, Durant chose to have the fracture operated on as he underwent the procedure early on Thursday. After the surgery KD took to Twitter to thank the many people that offered him kind words and prayers on his successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
Successful surgery, thanks for all the prayers and concerns! Headed back to okc. Move em

Fellow Oklahoma City Thunder player Kendrick Perkins also took to Twitter to congratulate his teammate on the successful operation.
Thank God for @KDTrey5 for having a successful surgery — Kendrick Perkins (@KendrickPerkins) October 16, 2014
The Thunder also announced that Durant’s status will be re-evaluated in six weeks. This timetable will certainly have Durant missing the remainder of the preseason, but may possibly see him return to action by the end of November.

I think a correction to last paragraph is in order if Sheridan Hoops wants to maintain a reputation.
As OKC statement says, KD will not get to see his surgeon until around Dec 1 (6 weeks from today).
That means it will be at that time before his surgeon will decide whether or not he can resume any basketball related activities or wait for another week or two, to re-evaluate. Based on reading about similar experiences (eg Brook Lopez, back in Dec – Feb 2011/2012), it will be several week after Dec 1, before he will be in an NBA game, playing 100% (Christmas). Maybe until early January if OKC or KG or his agent want to be cautious.
I warned about this in last 2 threads on subject. Knee and foot injuries have to be taken very seriously.
It seems that the OKC Thunder are still trying to minimize timetable for their fans.
Speaking of Brook Lopez, who has been dealing with this problem since Dec 2011, he just had a mild sprain (Dec 15) on the top of his injury riddled foot and will be rested at least until 1st game on October 29. Its not a big deal but you can never be too cautious with a bad foot that has a Titanium screw and reconstructive surgery.
