NBA fans on twitter will sometimes claim to be bolder than they actually are. Most of the time, these select fans can get away with their lies or schemes simply because no one can prove them otherwise.
Usually.
Take this one guy named Matthew Le who goes by the twitter handle “mrmatteo”, for example. The fan took a picture with Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green while getting his basketball autographed. Instead of saying something along the lines of “Green is a great guy!”, he decided to tweet the following caption with his photo instead:
I was telling Draymond Green he’s gonna get ran by my Lakers this year pic.twitter.com/IPnrEdZ8fk

It’s really not all that serious, and there’s a good chance he was goofing around more than acting as if he’s a die-hard fan who will go as far as let an NBA player know about it while asking for his autograph. Just one problem, though: somehow, the photo and the caption got back to Green, who then had this to say:
You didn’t say that RT @mrmatteo_: I was telling Draymond Green he’s gonna get ran by my Lakers this year pic.twitter.com/9Rl7cWKki8 — Draymond Green (@Money23Green) October 26, 2014
That’s one epic way to get caught with a lie. What was probably meant to be shared only with a small group of friends for Le has now turned into a hilarious joke circulating around the league.
He may have gotten called out, but it’s not everyday that you get directly confronted by an NBA player in this manner. The whole incident probably made the fan’s day and gave him something to remember for a long time more than anything else.
