Much like the first time LeBron James formed a trio in Miami, the new Big 3 in Cleveland are struggling in the early going.
Expected to be one of the top two teams in the East, the Cavs have struggled out of the gates, losing to the New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers and barely edging out a win against a shorthanded Chicago Bulls team in overtime.
The defense has been suspect, but the bigger surprise is their lack of continuity on the offensive end of the floor. Through three games, Cleveland is averaging just 95.3 points and bottomed out against the Trail Blazers on Tuesday 101-82.
Kevin Love did his best to carry the team on offense with 22 points on seven-of-14 shooting from the field, but didn’t get much help from the other big two. James had just 11 points on four-of-12 shooting, and Kyrie Irving was inexplicably bad, shooting an awful three-of-17 from the field for nine points.
That said, they are only three games into the season and have plenty of time to iron out the kinks. There is simply too much talent on this roster for them to not figure out the best way to co-exist in a much more efficient manner. Kenny Smith of TNT saw the struggles of Cleveland and preached patience.
It’s gonna take Cleveland a sec….!

Yes, it will take them a “second”, and there’s really no cause for concern this early. If they’re still playing like this 20 games into the season, that’s when everyone should start worrying.
